Now even if you can get into a T50 program, don’t go. (US World News rankings if you are curious about what programs fall into those buckets) Usually a Top 20 for high finance / consulting jobs, and Top 50 for good regional based fp&a / leadership development opportunities. For an MBA to have value it needs to be a full time MBA at a relatively well respected university. It’s not the right opportunity at this stage of your life. Now as others have said don’t get an MBA. Every company will have some form of finance / business analyst role and there are entry level roles just more competition to get your foot in the door. You can go into FP&A, Maybe Corporate accounting, there’s a lot of high finance jobs (not being rude, but based off the info from this post you won’t be qualified for these types of jobs), business analyst roles, operation analysts, etc.Īs a new grad with a finance degree look for analyst / jr. There are lots of careers for someone with a finance degree. If you want to do an MBA, great! Do it in 4-5 years when you have work experience and gotten a couple of promotions or worked a couple of different jobs. That's not a role your going to get out of university, so there's no point getting an MBA. Why? An MBA is for people who are moving from normal jobs to more management oriented leadership roles. Your goal should be to have the firm you do your last internship with to hire you full-time after graduation.Īn MBA makes zero sense. By doing this you'll also learn what jobs are out there and which you like and dislike. Once you complete that internship you can apply for more name brand internships the following year. Without experience you won't get top internships at name brand firms. Try to find internships to do over summer. It also seems weird that you're doing a degree, but don't know anything about it.
